This annual anthology was selected and edited by Leonard Gribble.
Two of Saville's pieces appeared in this publication, these are:
An extract from Jane’s Country Year retitled as ‘Rain for Saint Swithins’ in Best Children’s Stories of the Year II c1946
and
Chapter 3 of The Riddle of the Painted Box as ‘The Unwelcome Stranger’ in Best Children's Stories of the Year c1947

In 1950 Burke published the anthology Story Trove, again selected by Leonard Gribble, which contains Chapter 3 of Lone Pine Five retitled as ‘A Strange Couple’. This has a new and unique illustration of Jenny in the Stiperstones by Bertram Prance.
